Students gear up to resume digital mode of learning from tomorrow

Islamabad : The students across the country are enthusiastically gearing up to resume their online classes from tomorrow (Monday) after spending over two-weeks long winter vacations, despite challenges ahead in digital mode of learning including network disruptions, expensive packages and inaccessibility of internet.
The educational institutions were closed down by the government for the second time from November 26 till January 10 due to the second wave of COVID-19 while the students enjoyed winter vacations from December 25 till January 10. The educational institutions will again switch to the online mode of learning from Monday for the next few days as the government had decided to resume in-person learning in institutions from January 18 (subject to reviewing the COVID-19 situation again on January 14 in a meeting).

Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekera stated that Jaffna University is not the exclusive domain or property of one community.
In a message that was shared on his private Twitter account, he pointed “It belongs to all law-abiding #SriLanka(ns) alike.”
Continuing he added that no one will and should be allowed to commemorate dead terrorists of a proscribed organization under the guise of remembering innocent civilians and create disharmony.
Meanwhile, In protest to the incident that took place at the Jaffna University yesterday (09) night, five students of the Jaffna University has launched a hunger strike.
The monument which was erected in 2018 to commemorate the 10 years since the end of the war in Sri Lanka was removed by the university administration in the midst of the protest of the gathered.

Five-day nationwide anti-polio drive to start from tomorrow
LAHORE (Web Desk) - A five-day national polio immunisation drive will start from tomorrow to vaccinate over 40 million children under the age of five across Pakistan.
A supplementary dose of Vitamin A drops will also be administered to children aged 6 to 59 months during this campaign to help build general immunity among susceptible children to protect them from polio and other diseases.
Around 285,000 polio frontline workers will visit parents and caregivers at their doorstep, adhering to strict COVID-19 precautionary measures and protocols while vaccinating children.
